AIJA Berlin Conference – Private Clients and Venture Capital
Filipa Gomes Teixeira has attended the AIJA conference “Venture Visionaries – Angels, Demons and Other Relatives”, a joint initiative of the M&A and International Private Clients & Family Law comissions, held in Berlin from 19 to 21 March 2026.
The discussions reflected an increasing convergence between private client advisory and the investment sphere. Wealth structuring, family dynamics and investment strategy are becoming progressively interdependent, both in terms of opportunity and risk.
Key themes included the growing involvement of family offices in venture capital, the relevance of personal relationships in deal dynamics, and the impact of structural personal events — such as marriage, divorce or succession — on control, ownership and continuity within investment structures.
From a Portuguese perspective, these developments are already reflected in practice. As an increasingly attractive destination for founders, startups and internationally mobile capital, Portugal is becoming embedded in cross-border discussions on relocation, structuring and wealth planning.
This evolution reinforces the need for integrated advisory across tax, private client and investment matters, particularly in international contexts involving mobility and multi-jurisdictional exposure.
f/Legal advises individuals, families and founders on these matters in a Portuguese and cross-border context.
